Trip To Bilbao
During the fourth and last week of my trip to Spain, I went up to Bilbao, which is located in the Basque County, for four days with my Dad and other relatives. I met up with my uncle and cousin and we drove for four hours up to the North of Spain where I would meet my Dad.
Our apartment was conveniently located at the centre of the old town alongside the river that flows through the city. It was a small apartment so for the six people that would be spending the following nights here, there was not enough beds. So I ended up sleeping on the couch.
The highlight of the trip to Bilbao would be the Champions Cup Final, which is what my Dad flew over to see. Leinster were to play Racing 92, which would be a highly anticipated game. The streets were filled with people and atmosphere beforehand, which I really enjoyed. It turned out to be a boring and quiet 80 minutes, but Leinster won and took home the trophy which was still great to see.
Aside from the rugby match, there was still plenty to do in Bilbao over the 3 days left. Each night I went out and had lovely food. I had a great time exploring the narrow streets of the old town, which were filled with interesting shops and bars. I visited the Guggenheim museum, which for me was fantastic. My Dad didn’t enjoy the modern art in the museum, but the artwork appealed to me.
The trip to Bilbao was the perfect way to end the trip to Spain and when I came back I only had one more sleep until I was on a plane back home to Ireland
