Kairos was a one day course where I, along with my form, 4B, learnt how to use a television studio and created our own 15-minute programme.
We travelled by bus down to Maynooth, Co. Kildare and arrived at 9:30. We met Darren, who would be our supervisor for the day. Everyone was given roles for the day. My role was to be the visual mixer, which is in other words the one who edits the show from start to finish by transitioning to and from scenes giving order to the show. Our show was a "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!" type of show, where people in my form dressed up as famous actors which was unique because previous groups had never attempted anything close to this. Time was of the essence as we needed many takes to get the show right. I, along with the director and the graphic designer, were perched in a small room outisde the studio analysing the entire show. The sound men were also in an isolated room with only a small screen to look at in order to understand what was going on. We were given small breaks and by 1:30 we had to get 2 takes done and finish up in order to get home. On the final take the show went perfectly and the end result was impressive. I learnt that working on a studio set is a challenging and great experience and I hope I can work on another set in the future.
